Basic Swing, band
Een middag of avond met BASIC SWING staat garant voor genieten van aanstekelijk swingende jazzmuziek. BASIC SWING is een Main Stream Jazz Combo bestaande uit solisten en begeleiders van formaat en reputatie. De band is de voortzetting van de vermaarde Harry's Jazz and Blues Band die in het jaar 2000 door trombonist/bandleider Harry Westerbeke werd ontbonden.
Het repertoire
van de band is met de meeste zorg geselecteerd uit The Great American
Song Book, d.w.z. het verzamelde werk van de grote songwriters als George
Gershwin, Sammy Kahn, Jerome Kern, Richard Rogers, Cole Porter, om maar
eens wat namen te noemen. Een belangrijk deel van het repertoire bestaat
uit stukken van Duke Ellington. Ook Bossa Nova's van Antonio Carlos Jobim
prijken op de speellijst. BASIC SWING gaat ook een aantal Be bop composities
van Charlie Parker en Thelonious Monk niet uit de weg!
Dutch
Swing College Band, band
Een veel gehoorde uitspraak is: "Er zijn slechts twee soorten muziek,
namelijk goede en slechte". Voor de ware liefhebber van goede traditionele
jazzmuziek is de keuze dus vrij eenvoudig, want er is slechts één
Dutch Swing College Band.
Judging from the content here on "The Real Thing" CD, this Dutch
Swing College Band (DSCB) must be classed among the top, if not ranking
as being the premier jazz band of its kind today in Europe.
Deze formatie
onder leiding van de Rotterdamse rietblazer en arrangeur Ruud Bergamin
is zeer ruim inzetbaar bij elke gelegenheid zoals: Jazzfestival, bedrijfsfeest,
congressen, receptie, beurzen, huwelijksfeest, verjaardag, jubileum. Wij
houden altijd rekening met de muzikale eisen van opdrachtgever en de sfeer
van het evenement….
Het repertoire varieert van Mainstream Jazz tot Bebop tot Groove Tunes,
Latin en Easy Listening. Desgewenst kan het orkest aangevuld worden met
een of meer gastsolist(en). Een vocalist waarmee de band zeer regelmatig
werkt, is "Frank in Person" waarvan “Four four the road”
het exclusieve begeleiding Combo is.
De basis bezetting bestaat uit: Ruud Bergamin: saxen, Marnix van Bruggen:
piano, Dan Simon (USA): bas, Dolf Helge: drums.

Which jazz musician would not dream about getting a band on the road, in which he’d be able to fully realize all of his musical dreams? Clarinet player Hans Hooijmans, one of the recognized values on the Dutch trad jazz scene, is among those who have been playing around with this thought for many years. In 2000, under the well-sounding (and in the meantime legally protected!) name Royal Dutch JazzBand he systematically and deliberately gathered a group of experienced, musically-chastened and socially-skilled colleagues from all corners of the Netherlands around him.
De naam is ontleend aan de grootste en bekendste danszaal in het uitgaanscentrum van New Yorks zwarte wijk Harlem. The Savoy Ballroom, ook wel "Home of the happy feet" genaamd, vervulde in de jaren dertig en veertig dezelfde rol als de discotheek en danssalon van nu,.....
Oude stijl jazz. Het hele scala van de swingende muziek uit de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw aan de orde. Door de eigen composities van Jan van Deursen en zijn arrangementen kan gesproken worden van geheel eigen stijl en sound.

Orchestra is an 8-strong jazz group, founded in 2000. They play a fresh
mix of groove jazz and funky fusion. Their sound sometimes hints at the
70s, the decade in which most Scallies were born, but it is at the same
time modern & fresh.

Whatever meaning given to agog: energy, the unexpected and humor come first for this group. In the autumn of 1993 they won the first price at the ‘Europ’ jazz contest’. Frank Wingold got rewarded as ‘best soloist’ and Joost Lijbaart as ‘best drummer’. They also received the ‘Sabam price’ for the most original interpretation of the compulsory piece.

B & W Quintet
Al meer dan
4 jaar leiden Louk Boudesteijn (trombone) en Rob van de Wouw (trompet)
het Louk Boudesteijn/Rob van de Wouw-Quintet (B&W-Quintet). In deze
periode heeft het quintet een enorme ontwikkeling doorgemaakt. Deze ontwikkeling
bleef niet onopgemerkt want in 2001 sppelde het quintet op het festival
‘Jazz a Vienne’ in Zuid-Frankrijk. In 2002 speelde het B&W-quintet
o.a. op het North Sea Jazz festival, en gaven zij een zeer succesvol concert
in Carnegie Hall (New York). In 2004 werd een cd getitelt ‘It’s
about time’ opgenomen welke onlangs is verschenen p Maxanter Records.

iDe "Cotton City Jazzband" - voortgekomen uit het orkest de "Classics" -is opgericht op zaterdag, 2 augustus 1958.
Twee jaar later wordt aan pianist Ben Volkers verzocht om de leiding van het orkest op zich te nemen.
Het orkest heet dan inmiddels Cotton Town Jazzband. Gerard Koopman, de huidige orkestleider treedt in mei 1959 tot de band toe.

werd na een ontmoeting tijdens een opname in een studio opgericht en is een inspirerende, energieke band. De meeste composities die worden gespeeld zijn van de hand van gitarist Richard Doodkorte. Contrabassist
en jazzpresentator Gerhard ten Hoopen heeft samen met zijn groepsleden
eerder een plek weten te bemachtigen op het North Sea Jazz Festival. Saxofonist
Wim Ninaber en pianist Pieter van Santen komen o.a. uit de jazzgroep van
Mariska Veres. Zangeres Josephine Stiefelhagen, heeft naast Jazz Support
reeds jarenlange ervaring als vocaliste bij big bands. Aangevuld met vaste
allround drummer Frans Schmit.

Support is een swingend jazzcombo dat zowel uitermate geschikt is voor
(bedrijfs)recepties als voor een spetterend optreden tijdens een jazzfestival.

Hot Club de Frank is all about Swing, gypsy jazz, bebop and klezmer – ranging in mood from heavy rhythm that gravitates even Mick Jagger to the dance floor to laid back and relaxed. The ensemble can be seen and heard on TV, radio and in a wide variety of venues. In 2002 the band played on the Montreux Jazz Festival and for the second time on the North Sea Jazz Festival.

Uit 50 jaar popmuziek heeft Hour- of- Power gekozen voor de beste soulhits van "The Godfather of Soul" James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Tower of Power e.a. Deze muziek, die soms al 40 jaar oud is, heeft nog niets aan kracht ingeboet en is de basis van veel hedendaagse popmuziek.

Karakteristieken: Aanvankelijk begonnen als Dixieland-orkest is de IJM geleidelijk ook andere stijlen gaan spelen zoals swing, mainstream, latin en een enkel bebopstuk. Van veel nummers zijn er eigen arrangementen. Favoriete componisten zijn Duke Ellington, "Fats" Waller en Antonio Carlos Jobim; deze voorkeur komt ook in de repertoire-keuze tot uiting.

is een expressief Jazzquartet uit Den Haag. Dit kwartet is opgericht in 2002 na een gezamenlijk (eenmalig) optreden. De samenwerking beviel zo goed dat besloten werd tot een vaste samenwerking. There is no precise date when the Rosenberg Trio actually started to be a trio. Being kids of a very musical family they grew up with the music of Django Reinhardt. In 1974 Hans Meelen met for the first time members of the Sinti-community. Stochelo was 6 years old at that time.Hans started to play in the churches with Sani Rosenberg (the father of Nous'che and Nonnie), Wasso Grünholz (grandfather of Stochelo) and Storo Berger on violin.

The Searing Quartet was formed in 1995 at the Maastricht Conservatory in The Netherlands. Pianist Egbert Derix and saxplayer Peter Hermesdorf took the initiative to form this band as a "vehicle" for their own compositions and musical ideas. In 1995 they played at the "Dutch Conservatory Award" in Amsterdam and that same year they performed for the Dutch radioshow "Vpro's Jazz op Vier" which was hosted by Aad Bos. In 1997 they won the "publieksprijs" (prize given by the public) at the "Internationale Jazzconcours" in Breda.
