In Autumn 2001 The BlueNote Jazzcombo was founded. This band of 4 musicians
brings you jazzstandards from Swing to Bop.
is een Oldstyle Jazzband uit België, gesticht te Dendermonde in juni 1962. De naam "JEGGPAP" ontstond uit de voornaam initialen van de zes oorspronkelijke bandleden. Ze hielden verschillende tournees in Nederland, Engeland, Duitsland, Tenerife, Marokko, Amerika. De band nam ook deel aan festivals in binnen- en buitenland: Nederland, Engeland, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Zwitserland, Griekenland. "The Jeggpap" werd begeleidingsorkest van vele topjazzmusici. De groep concerteerde in 1980 in New-Orleans, Memphis en Nashville.

Oakcity Jazzband ontstond in september 1995 en is een groep van 7 goeie
kameraden, die op hun unieke manier, het publiek laat genieten van Dixielandmuziek.
De naam van deze band werd ontleend aan de stad van herkomst; Maaseik,
ook wel "de Eikerstad” genoemd.
The Oakcity Jazzband profileert zich vooral als Streetparade band, waarbij
de liedjes gekruid worden met stijlvolle solo's, herkenbaar gezongen teksten,
en stukjes straattheater met de toehoorders.
Steden als Düren, Aachen, Heerlen, Genk, Verviers, talrijke andere
gezellige plaatsen, en natuurlijk hun 'hometown' Maaseik worden nog regelmatig
ondergedompeld in hun uitbundige Dixielandsfeer.
Je gaat nooit aan The Oakcity Jazzband voorbij, zonder -op zijn minst-
een glimlach op je gezicht!
is a collective of improvizing musicians founded by Matty Demont (Piano, Fender Rhodes, Keyboards) and Joeri Bal aka DJ Phuse (Vinyl, Sampler-Looper, Synth). We aim at bringing together musicians from all kinds of backgrounds to create vibes in pubs, clubs, restaurants, at parties, art galleries, ... Our common background is musical passion and spontaneous improvization.
The band emerged from the idea that Jazz should be enjoyable by all. Swing and groove form the basis of their music. They play jazz according to the tradition of the 50s and 60s and are inspired by artists like Oscar Peterson, Cannonball Adderley, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, etc…

is an international Jazz Quartet founded in 1998 by Toine Thys (B) on alt sax and Daniel Noesig (A) on trumpet. The rhythm section of "TAKE THE DUCK" is Robert Jukic (Slo) on acoustic bass and Thorsten Grau (D) on drums.
‘TAKE THE DUCK’ is many things: an international jazz group, a mysterious name (best small group’s name of year 2002), a quartet without chord-instrument, thousands of kilometers on the road, a three-voices harmony quiz, or a pacific austrian-belgian-german enterprise, perhaps a great concentration of price-winner musicians... But more than that, it is a real BAND (sometimes hard to find these days) with an impressive and specific sound.
At the end of the seventies a few dixieland-formations were formed in Limburg-Belgium that revived the style of the twenties. With names as the Deep Creek Jazzuits, The Piccolo Dixieland Band and the Down Town Jazz Gang, Limburg-Belgium suddenly gained an important rang in the dixieland-scene. After muddling through of several Dixieland-bands in Limburg, 4 musicians put their heads together to do something unique. Playing Dixieland-music with ‘four’ musicians: a revolution! The Dixieland-scene was turned upside down. Frank, Danny, Patrick and Carlo are the basic elements of a unique concept:
THE BELGIAN DIXIE KINGS. The repertoire of the Belgian Dixie Kings does not just contain ordinary jazzmusic or boring New-Orleans-‘stomps’ … but a mixture of contemporary dixieland & swingmusic with even sometimes a tinge of bebop and latin. Their recent CD ‘Off The Record’ has become the crown of their work. The Belgian Dixie Kings already were a guest at several jazz-festivals and jazz-club-concerts in the Benelux and in Germany.

virtuoso themes, variety of moods in an infinite layers of tones. The musical dialogue never gets stale as so many new sounds replace each other, swoop and glide from the electric vibrations to the fullness of acoustic sounds. Against a backdrop of a solid rhythmical frame the flute and guitar rise up in turns. New Jazz feeds exactly on this: unexpected encounters, subtly crafted fusions, unknown colours..

A youthful formation being talked about with satisfaction is Jazzisfaction, the quartet surrounding the German-Belgian trumpet player Peer Baierlein, who is now back in Belgium, strengthened after studying for 6 months in New York. Peer plays with much imagination and excellent phrasing, primarily in the great tradition of the 50’s and 60’s including, among others, Kenny Dorham, and secondly in the post-bop canon à la mode of Tom Harrell. He is superbly supported by the perceptive piano player Ewout Pierreux (in the manner of Bill Evans), timekeeper Martijn Vanbuel on the double bass, and the dynamic and intense drummer Yves Peeters. A young-professional formatio that long ago surpassed the stage of being a promising group.

met nog maar een bescheiden `palmares’, maar gezien de kwaliteit van de huidige bezetting zal dat in de toekomst zeker gaan veranderen. De uit het Belgische Arendonk afkomstige trompettist Werner Maes is de oorspronkelijke initiatiefnemer van Jazzterday.

werd in 1986 met Maaseiker muzikanten opgericht in de voormalige opnamestudio's "De Piccolo". Aanvankelijk speelden ze oudstijl-nummers uit de jaren 20-30. Na verloop van jaren en een aantal wisselingen in de bezetting brengt de Piccolo stevige gearrangeerde nummers, ook uit de swingperiode. Het orkest is vooral beducht om zijn straatoptredens en is voor de argeloze voorbijganger veelal de eerste kennismaking met jazz. De Piccolo's spelen nummers met een hoge aaibaarheidsfactor die de jazz voor ieder toegankelijk maakt.

In 1989 Stone Bridge Dixieland was founded by the clarinettist Patrick Weeghmans. Throughout the years the band has known only a few changes, so the members are perfectly on each others wavelength. Stone Bridge Dixieland brings the original dixieland repertoire, very often in original own arrangements. This band has outgrown its own region and has also become a quite popular dixielandband at the Belgian Coast.
