Jens
Larsen, gitaar
studied jazz guitar at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague
from 1998 to 2004, graduating from 1st phase in 2002 and 2nd phase in
2004. At the conservatory he had lessons from Peter Nieuwerf, Wim Bronnenberg
and Eef Albers. While there he got the chance to perform with Jim McNeely,
Slide Hampton and Michael Brecker and follow masterclasses with Chris
Potter, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Chris Cheek.
Jens is since 1998 working as a musician in the Netherlands performing
on dutch venues and radio with Yvonne Smeets, Rob Pronk, John Engels.
With Rene Winter and Bob Wijnen he forms the organ trio Wijnen, Winter
& Larsen. The three also form the nucleus of the rhythm section of
the West Coast Big Band. He has recorded with the West Coast Big Band
and Wild Bill the project of Williem Kiwiet de Jonge.
2004 Start of another CvB band: Vanbinsbergen’s Eclectic Electric featuring Corrie van Binsbergen guitar, Theo Sieben (former Nederlands Theater Orkest and Trijntje Oosterhuis) guitar, Dionys Breukers piano and sampling, Hein Offermans bass and Sjoerd van Bommel (played with Jango Edwards, Frederique Spigt and many others) on drums & loops.

werd in 1980 in Zeist geboren. Na het behalen van zijn gymnasiumdiploma in 1998, werd hij, na vakkundig te zijn klaargestoomd door Erik Rutjes, toegelaten tot het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, waar hij lessen volgde bij Jesse van Ruller, Martijn van Iterson, Maarten van der Grinten, Leonardo Amuedo, Ed Verhoeff en Eef Albers.

With the projects already released, the upcoming releases and the international presscoverage, it seems that this composer/arranger/guitarist and producer is on his way to a great international career. His challenging way with form and harmony, his melodies and grooves in the popular styles, and his jazz and classical compositions, arrangements and orchestrations put him in the circle of contemporary musicians who are clearly with two feet in their own era, with respect for tradition, their masters and heroes. While at the same time combine a healthy business sense with versatility. As a very rhythmical and melancholic composer, he pushes his music to energy and "feel", with a lot of emotion and momentum. His concerts are "high energy" and powerful, his radiation to his audience convincing and open. He is in total control of the music and the band and knows how to bring them to creative and inspired performances.

My roots are in the 50's when players like Barney Kessel, Tal Farlow, Jimmy Raney, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, paved the way for later generations of jazzguitarists. Now, 40 years later, I conclude that these players are still standing! Although many great talents appear nowadays, and styles are changing and developing to the highest degree of musical richness, we may never forget the work of these early pioneers.

I started to play the guitar (flamenco) at the of age 5. I'm half Spanish and learned a lot by watching my father (José Catalan, flamenco guitarist) play. At the moment I'm doing a lot of different stuff; I'm playing with Bayuba Cante (World Music), flamenco artists and doing session work for studio's and various artists.

born in Waalwijk, The Netherlands started playing the guitar at the age of eight. At first he was a Jimi Hendrix-inspired musician. In his search for improvisation he became more and more influenced by jazz music.
In 1990 he decided to become a professional player and started to study at the Brabants Conservatory.

snaren. Mijn moeder stond vroeger ook op de planken. Ze speelde gitaar
en zong samen met twee andere zangeressen. Mijn oudste broer speelde ook
gitaar.
