Karel is de man die nooit helemaal tevreden is en het tot een van zijn levenstaken rekent om het peil van het orkest zo hoog mogelijk op te voeren. Na vijf jaar harmonie ervaring als klarinettist start in 1964 Karel's Jazz-carrière.
His musical career started at the age of 13 by studying saxophone and in 1974 he began to study music at the Brabants Conservatory in Tilburg, the Netherlands. His professional career began in 1976 when he was asked to join the 'Gemeentereinigingsorkest Vaalbleek; a band led by bassplayer/pianist/composer Niko Langenhuijsen.
From the very beginning in 1977, Paul started to set up his own bands / projects , playing his compositions.
Soprano-, alto-, tenor- and baritone saxophone, clarinet, bluesharp. Composer, arranger. Plays saxophone since 1979, clarinet since 1988. Lessons from Sean Bergin, Paul Termos and Paul Stocker. Studied at workshops given by by Sean Bergin and Arnold Dooyeweerd at CREA (Amsterdam). From 1980 at Arnold Dooyeweerd's workshop at the BIMhouse in Amsterdam. Also played in the big band workshop by Frank Grasso (at CREA). From 1984 a few years on the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Besides giving concerts, he also teaches saxophone, teaches incidentally at the Conservatory of Arnheim and is active as a workshop leader. Since 2000 member of the board of the BIM the Dutch union for jazz musicians, since May 2002 as president.

Door de intense communicatie van vier muzikale persoonlijkheden in een vloeiend saxofonistisch samenspel, heeft Saxo Pánico een geheel eigen stijl ontwikkeld. In veel stukken speelt improvisatie een belangrijke rol, maar altijd binnen het raamwerk van een sterke, vaste compositie.
Simon
Rigter, saxophone
Simon Rigter is een van de vooraanstaande tenorsaxofonisten van de
nieuwe generatie. Hij gaf concerten in Nederland, Duitsland, België,
Luxemburg, Denemarken, Israël en Jamaica. Al in 1998 noemde Down
Beat hem een “strong tenor saxist”. In Nederland speelde hij
in enkele jaren zeven maal in TROS Sesjun, en talloze malen live voor
Radio West. Hij was ook veel te beluisteren op het North Sea Jazz Festival,
waar hij in 2000 optrad met saxofonist George Coleman en drummer Alvin
Queen. Inmiddels is Simon te horen op een 25-tal cd’s, o.a. met Slide
Hampton, Curtis Fuller en John Marshall. Hij geeft les aan conservatoriums
in Rotterdam en Zwolle en is met Cees Slinger co-leider van het kwintet
Buddies in Soul, waarin Ruud Breuls trompet en flügelhorn speelt.
Hij maakt ook deel uit van Slingers Three Tenor Case (met collega’s
Sjoerd Dijkhuizen en Ferdinand Povel). Met altist Marco Kegel speelt hij
in de combinatie Saxology muziek in de stijl van Lennie Tristano, Lee
Konitz en Warne Marsh. Verder speelt hij in het Erik Doelman Kwartet,
in Vijf op de Schaal van Rigter (met o.a. zijn vader Bob Rigter) en hij
is regelmatig te beluisteren in The Dutch Jazz Orchestra, The Rotterdam
Jazz Orchestra en in The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
Antoine Trommelen (soprano, alto, and tenor saxophone) is a self-taught musician, and is highly regarded in the worlds of Dixieland, Swing, and Mainstream-jazz.He is the leader of several jazz bands, an award-winning soloist, and has played with many international jazz greats including Bob Wilber, Tom Baker, Dan Barrett , Bob Barnard, George Probert, Dee Daniels, Bruce Adams, Gene Conners, Peanuts Hucko, Satoru Oda, Benny Powell, Wendell Brunious, Steve Yocum, John Allred ,and Roy Williams. Dutch jazz artists Pim Jacobs, Thijs van Leer, Denise Jannah, Greetje Kauffeld , and many others.
Speelt sax sinds 1986, gestart bij muziekvereniging Crescendo in Sliedrecht, vervolgens gespeeld in de bigband AE Jazz Orchestra, en soulband Basement Five. Voor de blazerssectie van Basement Five de arrangementen geschreven, toen nog met de hand. Les gehad van John Segers, Rolf Delfos, Pablo de Haas (tenorsax), gestudeerd aan de DJAM in Amsterdam.

Dercksen, saxophone
Deze Arnhemse saxofonist/componist komt uit een familie waarin muziek
een belangrijke rol speelt. Op achtjarige leeftijd begint hij met gitaarspelen
en vanaf zijn veertiende jaar speelt hij in lokale bands als bassist en
saxofonist.
Tineke Postma (1978) started playing the saxophone, flute and piano at the age 9. She was immediately attracted by jazz and pop music. After finishing her Bachelor's Degree in jazz music, she graduated Cum Laude in June 2003 from the masters program at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. During her masters study Tineke received two scholarships for studying at the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Dick Oatts, David Liebman and Chris Potter.
Since 1984 Dutch tenor/soprano saxophonist, composer and Bird Award winner Toon Roos has been highly appreciated both in The Netherlands and abroad by critics, audiences and colleagues for his lyricism, intense expressiveness and originality.
De belangrijkste muziekstijlen waarmee hij zich bezighoudt zijn “neobop”; bebop; mainstream-jazz; freejazz; geïmproviseerde muziek; latin-jazz; swing. Ook doet hij solo optredens (sax a capella).

Rik van den Bergh (b. May 10,1970); baritone saxophone/bass clarinet;
Royal Conservatory of The Hague (1992-1996); associated with The New Thundering
Swingmates, The Hague All Star Big Band, Peter Ypma & His Eleven and
Baileo Big Band; he won the Japanese Kobe Jazz Award 1999 and performed
in Japan (1999/2000); he had his organ/baritone quartet Swingmatism from
1999 untill 2004; this quartet toured with Teddy Edwards and 'Sax' Gordon
Beadle; he played with Tom Baker, Dan Barrett, Rob van Bavel, Bill Berry,
Bert Boeren, Joke Bruys, Jarmo Hoogendijk, John Engels and Spiegel Wilcox,
among others.

Colen, saxophone

Colen was born on July 12th 1961 in Geleen, Holland. In his formative
years he played a variety of instruments, concentrating on the guitar
for several years, before discovering his everlasting love: the saxophone.
In 1990 he graduated from the Hilversum Conservatorium as a jazz musician,
under the tuition of Adri van Velzen, Albert Beltman and Ferdinand Povel.
His talent was already in demand in the professional arena - a year earlier,
he performed in “Zeldzaam”, the pop musical written and directed
by Jurre Haanstra. Later on he went to New York to study with Dick Oatts.

Born September 19th 1969 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Candy Dulfer is six years old when she starts playing the saxophone. Her father Hans Dulfer, a renowned jazz saxophone player himself, recognises the talent of his little girl and enters her into the local brassband Jeugd Doet Leven in Zuiderwoude.

Op dit moment heeft Willem een jazzkwartet met Wiro Mahieu, Dirk balthaus en Geert Roelofs en speelde daar mee op het North sea jazz festival 2000 en was tevens finalist van de Dutch jazzcompetition van dat jaar.

begon op 13 jarige leeftijd met clarinet en speelde aanvankelijk dixieland tunes. Toen hij 16 jaar was kwam de tenorsax erbij. In 1970 werd daar ook het bespelen van fluit aan toegevoegd.
Eenmaal de smaak van het spelen van de instrumenten te pakken, maakte de weg vrij voor een leven, beheerst door improvisatiedrang, voornamelijk in de BEBOP traditie en aanverwante stijlen.
