Master Of The Plunger. On February 1, 1904, Joe Nanton, a very unique trombonist was born. His professional career as a trombonist began in Washington with pianist Cliff Jackson. From 1923 to 1924 he worked with Frazier's Harmony Five. A year later he performed with banjoist Elmer Snowden.

Principal Trombonist for the Utah Symphony, began his trombone studies at the age of eight, though that was not his original intent. Upon arriving for the first day of his third grade music program, he was disappointed to learn that his elementary school was out of trumpets, the instrument he became enamored with after hearing Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
