I come from a long line of musicians. My dad, Nick Marano, a professional
pianist and marvelous musician, was comfortable in all styles of music,
from opera to jazz. My mom was a terrific singer who introduced me to
the recordings of her favorite singers - who later became my idols and
influences.

children in a poor family. The child prodigy played piano at the age of
four. With the help of her music teacher, who set up the "Eunice
Waymon Fund", she could continue her general and musical education.
A singer since the age of six, vocalist and arranger Kris Adams was a member of the famed early 90's graduate school class at Boston's New England Conservatory that included friends and fellow vocalists Lisa Thorson, Patrice Williamson, and Luciana Souza.

Mose Allison was born in the Mississippi Delta on his grandfather’s farm near the village of Tippo. At five he discovered he could play the piano “by ear” and began “picking’ out” blues and boogie tunes he heard on the local jukebox. In high school he listened to the music of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Louis Jordan, and his prime inspiration, Nat Cole of the King Cole Trio.

Born Madeline Bell Brodus on the 23rd July 1942 in Newark, New Jersey, USA, she became a prominent member of the local gospel choir. At the age of 14 her voice was unique and powerfully penetrating, with such range it could be distinctly heard above the 150 strong gospel ensemble.
