Sinds de oprichting in 1977 is Jazzpower actief op het gebied van de moderne jazz en geïmproviseerde muziek. Het hoofddoel was en is nog steeds: het organiseren van concerten om het publiek in contact te brengen, te amuseren of te confronteren met de meest interessante ontwikkelingen op regionaal, nationaal en internationaal niveau. De concerten vinden voornamelijk plaats in Café Wilhelmina [Wilhelminaplein 6 in Eindhoven], maar soms ook elders in de stad.
