LENORE RAPHAEL, PIANIST/COMPOSER/ CLINICIAN

Cited as "one of the most significant jazz artists for 2005" by Dr. Mike Matheney of Radioio Jazz, writer John Gilbert (Sony / Columbia staff, AllAboutJazz, EJazz News and Jazz Improv) has called Lenore "Simply one of the best pianists in our art form…she always swings!"

With influences of Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell and Bill Evans, she is just one thing…a GREAT pianist.
Lenore has the ability to take the songs she plays and express the emotional content of each tune. She has sold out performances in concerts from coast to coast in the United States.

In her recent performance as part of the Diet Coke Women In Jazz Festival at Jazz At Lincoln Center in New York, she "rocked the room" and was immediately rebooked for a week-long engagement.

She was featured at the International Assiciation for J. Education showcase in Long Beach California, and has performed to "sold out" audiences for the Gainesville (Florida) J. & Blues Society, the Colorado Springs Conservatory, the East Coast J. Festival, Blowing Rock Jazz Society, the Jazz & Blues Company in Carmel, California, Steinway J. Showcase in Scottsdale, Arizona, J. In The Sangres festival, and was guest artist at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California.

She was featured guest artist at a sold out performance at the Carnegie in Johnson city, Tennessee and was invited back as guest artist along with Dr. Ron Modell, with the East Tennessee State University jazz ensemble at the their gala fall concert.
Along the way, Lenore has performed with many wonderful jazz artists such as Clark Terry, Al Grey, Joe Cohn, Wycliffe Gordon, Ken Peplowski, Vic Juris, Bassist Mike Richmond, John Pizzarelli, Arnie Lawrence and many more.

She has been a guest on Marian McPartland's NPR radio show Piano Jazz and voted a finalist in Sony's Search for a JazzStar.

Lenore's CDs have received heavy airplay on all major jazz stations around the world and are regularly heard on XM Satellite radio. Her most recent "A Beautiful Friendship" was on the top 10 playlists on WBGH (Boston), WBGU (Bowling Green) WDIY, and has remained on top playlists.

Lenore has just been booked as a feature artist on the Jazz Cruise, 2006 www.thejazzcruise.com on the S.S. Oosterdam.

CLINICS/WORKSHOPS
Lenore is also an active advocate for jazz education. She is an Outreach Artist for the International Association For Jazz Education. She has received high praise for her jazz clinics at Denver School of the Arts, Colorado Springs Conservatory, East Coast Jazz Festival on the music of Thelonious Monk, the Orange County Performing Arts Center and high schools and colleges around the country.

She was also co-director of Project JOY (Jazz Opportunities for Youth), a summer jazz workshop at Montclair State College, which ran for three years and had over 100 students participate.

With a growing need for jazz education at the elementary school level, Lenore and co-writer Marcia Hillman, created "Scat Cat's Adventures In Jazzland", an interactive show to teach young children about the history of jazz.
